System Cleaning and Disinfection
The cleanliness and microbiological quality of water systems is paramount.
Sludge, scale and corrosion deposits will inhibit heat transfer if
not removed, and our clients know that inhibited heat transfer will
lead to excessive energy costs. Similarly, such deposits will also
provide an environment for bacteria, including Legionella pneumophila,
to thrive.
Quite apart from the engineering implications, scale, corrosion,
sludge deposits, and microbiological fouling must be regularly
removed from
systems, particularly cooling systems, under the requirement of L8
- "Legionnaires Disease, The Control Of Legionella Bacteria in
Water Systems, Approved Code of Practice and Guidance", from
the Health and Safety Commission.
Cooling Towers
Our site teams have experience of all types of cooling tower, from
the smallest evaporative condenser to systems on an industrial scale.
Their work is carried so as to ensure the client’s downtime
is minimal, and disruption to process operation is reduced.
Heat Exchangers
Heat exchangers can be critical to industrial processes. Our monitoring
of these systems will identify when cleaning is required. If acid
cleaning is needed to clear waterside fouling we act quickly.
The cleaning team will always include an experienced chemist, and
we use the best inhibitors whilst the process takes place. We know
the
importance of down time and this is always kept to a minimum as
we liase closely with the site engineering team, and the system
is up
and running again with minimum disruption and maximum effect.
Tank Improvements
Part of a building manager’s responsibility is to ensure water
tanks comply with water by laws and minimum standards required by
L8 Legionella legislation. Nation can provide a tank improvement

to include re-coating of tanks, installation of new lids, fitting
of insect screens, re-routing of pipework, and tank replacement.
